Lets Talk Tips to Help You Stick with Your Exercise Routine
Talking yourself out of exercising or working out is something that can be very easy to do. We can all feel too tired to do something or feel that we are too busy, the weather isn’t warm enough, your arm hurts, or we have something else that is more important to do instead. Although some of these things can be valid, if you make excuses like this, nothing is ever going to change. As a result, if you are looking to  improve your health and your fitness, then you need to motivate yourself to change, in order to stay on track with your goals. With that in mind, here are some tips and tricks that will help you to stay motivated, to make sure that you get to where you want to be.
Look to yourself for motivation
If you are only ever looking to someone else for your motivation then you will quickly find that it won’t help. The motivation that you need to stick to your fitness regime needs to come from you. If you find that you only want to exercise to look better, then it won’t be something that lasts. But really look to yourself for motivation, because you feel better when you move more or you feel happier and less stressed after you have exercised, will help to keep you feeling stronger. Look to yourself for some intrinsic motivation and it will make a difference.
Find solutions to excuses
If you are always saying that you are too busy to exercise, then why are you always too busy? Can you be more organised and plan out your day better in order to fit it in? If you’ve got time to scroll on social media, then you’ve got time to get out for a walk or go to the gym. If you feel like you have nothing to wear to workout, then get some workout clothes or a new pair of trainers so that is no longer an excuse. When you find some solutions to the excuses that you have, then it will make it much easier to get going and to get motivated.
If you find that you have an injury, then it can be a valid excuse. However, there are some things that you can still do to keep active, and to help with your recovery too. For example, if you are thinking of buying kinesiotape, then it could help as you face your injury, in order to speed up the healing and mean you can be working out again before you know it. The reason being is that tape like that works to lift the skin, helping to decompress the layers of fascia. This means you can get more fluid moving the white blood cells around your body, which is vital in healing.
Take small steps
If you do too much too soon, then it can be painful, be hard, and put you off. If you want to run a marathon, for example, then that is a great goal to have. However, you won’t be able to just go and run miles and miles on your first training session. Take it easy, with small and achievable steps, and then you will be able to get to your goal in a way that works, and isn’t tough to get there.
Get a training buddy
Although the motivation to exercise and being in the right kind of headspace needs to come from you, it can be a good idea to find a buddy to train with you. This can be similar to finding a solution to your excuses, if you feel like you can’t go to the gym because you don’t know what to do. If you have a trainer or a friend that you can have a session with, then it will help to get you there, and you can support and motivate each other. It can definitely make a big difference.
Track your progress
It can take some time to see the progress that you have made, but by tracking your progress, you will have a starting point to look back on. It may be that you want to be able to lift a certain weight or to have a certain level of body fat. Whatever your goal is, tracking what you do and your journey along the route will help to make such a difference, and really help you to feel like you are achieving something great. Just grab a notebook and away you go.
All these tips can help you stick to your exercise routine if you implement them to your lifestyle. Ultimately it is your lifestyle that must change in order to see change. Give yourself a timeline, set mini goals whether it is weekly, monthly or every 3 months. This will help you focus on the task ahead instead of overwhelming yourself with the end goal. You are continuously growing each and every day let’s make those choices the ones you are really proud of!
