Looking After Your General Health is KEY
Now more than ever, we are becoming increasingly conscious of our health and general wellbeing due to the pandemic, so you want to endeavour to make sure you are doing everything you can to be healthy by looking after your body and mind and finding vital down time when you can.
Your Skin is Also in Need of Attention
Having a regular skin care routine is useful to keep your face or body in the best possible condition you can. By using a daily cleansing lotion and moisturiser you can ensure that you are removing any impurities in your skin and replenishing it to make sure your skin is not drying out. Also, prior to showering it is useful to exfoliate your skin before you get it wet, to remove any dead skin that builds up on the surface.
I am always getting asked what my skin care routine consists of, although it slightly changes from time to time due to weather and skin conditions I have filmed my current routine on our YouTube channel The Models Diary.
You Are What You Eat
Eating a healthy balanced diet and cooking homemade meals is essential to your overall health. It is not a question of putting yourself on a restrictive diet and completely eliminating one food group entirely, but just attempting to eat as much as a variety of food as possible and not binging on high processed foods all the time as they provide little substance. The more colorful your cooking palette, the better.
If you enjoy cooking, do as much as possible or if you haven’t tried, then why not begin now? Especially if you have more time on your hands and are spending more time at home.
Your Smile Can Show a Lot
Your teeth are an important part of your oral health so you want to ensure they are well maintained, particularly if a trip to the Endodontist is not currently possible. Brushing them at least once a day, ideally twice, using a mouthwash and flossing is important to do on a daily basis to keep your teeth in good condition. As soon as it is possible, I keep up to date with regular visits to the dentist so that my teeth do get to the point where they are neglected and in need of dental treatment.
Your Hair Is Worth It
Hair care is important for your general health. What you eat can have a significant impact on the health of your hair. Eating foods rich in protein, minerals and vitamins will benefit how hair is nourished, promote hair growth and rescue breaking.
If possible try to include the following in your diet;
-
Tofu or Eggs
-
Beans
-
Spinach
-
Oats
-
Berries
-
Tomatoes
-
Chia seeds or Fish rich in Omega-3 (tuna, salmon, anchovies, mackerel, sardines)
Happy Mind Happy Life
It is important to make time for yourself, if not daily then at least weekly. Do something that you find relaxing, like escaping into the world of a good book, listening to the music of your favorite artist, having a relaxing bubble bath using your favorite products, putting on a facial mask (not the kind you have to wear when you leave the house), burning some natural fragrance in your room, practising yoga or going for a walk on your own. It is essential for your mental wellbeing to find time to relax and de-stress as we can sometimes allow all the everyday stresses to overwhelm us.
Physical Wellbeing
No need to be running a marathon or lifting heavy weights at the gym to only be considered physically fit. There are many ways to get physical activity in. It is doing what works well for you in your own lifestyle. If you find you are not doing much physical activity as you have been working from home the majority of the time, it is finding small ways to gradually incorporate some physical activity again. Going for a brisk 10 minute walk around the block, doing some gardening, running up and down the stairs and skipping are examples of small ways you can try to increase your physical activity. Try 10-15 minutes of stretching or Yoga for stress relief and anxiety.
Looking After Your General Health is key.
Overall you want to ideally look after yourself from head to toe. Of course work and family life can get in the way of this, so aim to try and do one thing for yourself in order to keep you physical and mental well-being in tip top condition. The more you do now, the less likely you are to suffer from any problems further afield.
